Clarissa A. Preston ,CIC, MBA

As a State
Relations Executive for the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI),
Clarissa is responsible for NCCI’s
regulatory and legislative affairs in Arizona, Kansas and Kentucky. Her
responsibilities include rate/loss cost filings, legislative pricings, rules
and form filings, appeals mechanisms, and residual market issues. She
also participates in industry-wide
educational resources and compliance activities for the agent/broker community,
state and national agencies, in support of regulatory and legislative
processes.
Clarissa is a member of the National
African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) and serves as Chairperson of her
local Louisiana Chapter (NAAIA SELA) and is also a former National Board Member
of NAAIA.
Prior to joining
NCCI, Clarissa was a governmental
relations advisor for Adams and Reese, LLP in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has
also served in leading roles with the Louisiana Department of
Insurance—alternately filling the role of Deputy Commissioner of Insurance for
the Office of Consumer Advocacy as well as the Office of Property and Casualty.
Preston has also worked as an insurance company multi-lined producer. She is an
American Bar Association-approved certified paralegal and a commissioned civil
law notary public.
Clarissa is a
New Orleans native and mother to her toddler son, Cameron. She holds a
B.A. in Sociology from Louisiana State University and an MBA from the
University of Phoenix. She is designated as a Certified Insurance Counselor
(CIC).
